One of the aims of German development cooperation is to sensitise its partners to the need for adaptation to climate change and support the requisite adaptation process through a learning process developed and managed in conjunction with the developing countries themselves. The German contribution focuses on four main objectives here: (I) supporting development programmes which directly benefit adaptation; (II) building the requisite capacities for the adaptation process; (III) managing risks associated with climate change and extreme weather events; (IV) responding to the climate change impacts that have already occurred.
