MORE than 100 representatives from across the Pacific are attending the Third Regional Pacific Dialogue on Nationally Determined Contributions and Consultation on the Regional Pacific NDC Hub at Holiday Inn in Suva.
Speaking at the event, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) country director and head of Pacific Regional Policy and Programme Bakhodir Burkhanov said strong ownership and buy-in from all government institutions, the private sector, and the wider public were pre-conditions for the successful implementation of the NDC.
"It should be engrained in countries' long-term visions in order to avoid isolated actions that are not part of the national or sectoral planning processes. A baseline for actions and corresponding monitoring and reporting mechanisms must be put in place with clear responsibilities and targets for sectors, ministries, and localities. All countries are in this together and it is hugely important to learn from one another hence this dialogue," Mr Burkhanov said.
