Marine and Environmental Research Institute of Pohnpei (MERIP)

The Marine and Environmental Research Institute of Pohnpei (MERIP) is a humanitarian, not-for-profit organization that provides less advantaged Micronesian communities with environmentally sustainable and economically viable skills to produce products for international markets. It is involved at all levels of the development cycle, including: simple technology research; community capacity-building and technology transfer; income generation; and international market development. MERIP provides farmers with start-up financing and small business development, marketing training, and access to international buyers. It also connects local communities with regional development and capacity-building organizations.
