Bula Vinaka Olgeta Pacific Family! The Pacific Climate Change Centre hosted at SPREP continue to translate its vision “Catalyze Climate Action and Investment in the Pacific” into concrete actions and strategies through the delivery of its key services on 1) Knowledge Brokerage 2) Science to Services and Applied Research 3) Capacity Building and Training and 4) Innovation. The upgrade of the Pacific Climate Change Portal to meet the need of Pacific users. The portal currently hosts 2253 resources and more than 5.2k users. The convening of the Pacific Ocean Pacific Climate Change Conference (POPCCC) for 300 researchers in partnership with National University of Samoa and Victoria University of Wellington. The establishment of three MOUs with the University of Melbourne, National University of Samoa, and Solomon Islands National University. The additional funding support from the Government of Australia through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water for Research and IPCC. The approval of AUD$4.8million project from a Charitable Fund, the Wellcome to implement the “Pacific Action to Enhance the Visibility of Evidence on Health and Climate Impacts”. The approval of Round 20 Australian Awards Fellowship Program for short-term opportunities for in-Australia study, research, and professional development activities for 15 fellows. The improved Climate Finance Access through the Readiness and Preparatory Support with the recently approved Readiness for Solomon Islands Readiness 3 – USD 1m & Marshall Islands Readiness 4 - USD 1m. The hosting of the 2024 Pacific Climate Change Innovation exhibition with more than 120 participants and 156 innovative solutions submitted. The convening of the first Partners Dialogue on Long Term Sustainability Plan for Building a Climate Resilient Pacific supported by the Government of New Zealand, Australia, and Japan through JICA. These are some of the initiatives which provided the PCCC and PICs with the capacity and guidance to implement their climate change national priorities.
