TRADITIONAL forest land management practices must be acknowledged and evaluated to determine its relevance in the present society.

During a presentation at the awareness workshop on climate change and the REDD+ program in Suva, Coping with Climate Change in the Pacific Islands Region Program (CCCPIR) deputy team leader Christine Fung said these practices had to be viewed holistically.

"Think about the difference, our forefathers lived 100 years ago and consider what type of environment they lived in socially, environmentally and economically," Ms Fung said.
