Tuvalu has reminded the United Nations that climate change poses an existential threat to the country. Tuvalu's Ambassador to Belgium, Aunese Makoi Simati, made the comment in Geneva at the annual UN Human Rights Council session.
He said climate change and sea-level rise were detrimental to the fundamental human rights of Tuvaluans. Mr Simati, who is also the head of his country's mission to the European Union, told the session it was beyond Tuvalu's capability to alone cope with the problem.
