In 2026, the 7th Pacific Urban Forum will be held in the Pacific’s largest urban centre, Port Moresby. The region’s pre-eminent event on cities and towns, PUF7 marks two decades since urbanisation was first recognised by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat in their 2005 Pacific Plan.
Hosted by the Papua New Guinean Government and the Pacific Urban Partnership, and held at the city’s prestigious APEC Haus in downtown Moresby, the event will bring together representatives from across the Pacific’s national and local governments, along with development partners, civil society, academia, urban practitioners, and the private sector, to showcase solutions for the region’s growing cities and towns.
PUF7 coincides with Papua New Guinea’s celebration of 50 years of Independence, being part of the formal program of golden jubilee celebrations.
The Forum will take place in early 2026, with the National Capital District Commission hosting optional site visits for the day following the event.
PUF7 will build on momentum from the 2023 6th Pacific Urban Forum, hosted by the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat at their headquarters in Suva, Fiji. For more insight into previous Pacific Urban Forum events, more details can be found on the PUF6 and Resources pages of this website.
